VILLAGE OF CHAGRIN FALLS
FINANCE COMMITTEE
September 26, 2011
Members present: Patton, Subel
Also present: Mayor Brick, Bloom, Himes, Lutz, Williams, Evans, Jacobs, Brosius, Lannon
The meeting was called to order at 7:15 p.m. by Chairman Steven Patton.
2012 PROPERTY TAX RATE
Mr. Bloom explained that there are two options. One is the bond retirement millage, which is flexible each year. It has been at 2.9 mills for about five years. He said he is recommending 2.9 mills again this year. The assessed value has been the same, the debt requirement is the same, so the millage is about the same every year. The two voted bonds that are combined in this 2.9 mills are the waste water treatment plant and the streetscape. The other item is the .6 outside millage. It is the police operating levy (that passed) that went along with the failed bond issue, the new police building issue. Each year the county is going to put this on for five years and it is up to Council whether they want to collect the millage or not. It generates a little over $100,000 a year.
Mr. Patton said this will be on tonight’s Council agenda where they will discuss it further.
The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
