VILLAGE OF CHAGRIN FALLS
ARTS COMMISSION
August 4, 2008
Members present: Jean Hood, Scott Lax, Don Edelman, Dwight Milko
The meeting was called to order at 6:04 p.m.
AMPHITHEATER
Mr. Milko explained that this project was given to the Parks Commission. The Parks Commission referred to a landscape architect, Craig Cawrse, to understand the Commission’s desire for a smaller-scaled terrace seating rather than the amphitheater previously suggested and how a new stairway from the library parking lot could be incorporated into the design. They are leaning more towards having the terrace seating at the base of the steps to keep Riverside Park passive. It was mentioned that they don’t want to downsize it too much. They will look into what dimensions it should be to accommodate 100 to 150 people. They will research lighting and sound also.
Mr. Milko said the Parks Commission would like help from the Arts Commission in talking to organizations that might use the outdoor terrace seating and what they would use it for.
IVEX PROJECT
The Commission discussed different opportunities for the property, such as restaurants and a movie and/or dinner theater, and possible ingress and egress problems.
MISCELLANEOUS
There was discussion regarding the general performing arts district and how to attract artists into the Village.
The meeting adjourned at 6:32 p.m.
